A homeowner is recovering in the hospital after being shot early Monday morning during a deadly encounter with someone who had broken into his home.
Detroit Police Officers stated that a suspect forced a woman, the homeowner’s girlfriend, who was outside of the home in the 19000 block of Liberal Street at 12:30 a.m., back into the home at gunpoint.
Inside the home, gunfire erupted as shots were exchanged between the suspect and the homeowner.
The homeowner, a 46 year-old man was shot twice in the chest and taken to St. Johns Hospital, where he is still listed in critical condition.
The suspect… in terms from my firefighter/medic days, was DRT (Dead Right There) on the scene, from wounds received during the exchange of gun fire.
Police are saying they are still looking for at least one, maybe two other suspects involved in the shooting, who fled the scene prior to their arrival. They haven’t released any descriptions of the two possible suspects.
